CONVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY
X-ray is the most used imaging technique that shows abnormalities in bones and certain body tissues. An X-ray machine produce short bursts of X-rays that pass easily through fluids and soft tissues creating an image for diagnostic interpretation.
BONE MINERAL DENSITY TEST (BONE DENSITOMETRY)
Bone densitometry uses a very small dose of ionizing radiation to produce pictures of the inside of the body (usually the lower spine and hips) to measure bone loss. It is commonly used to diagnose osteoporosis and to assess an individual’s risk for developing fractures.
ULTRASOUND AND DOPPLER
Ultrasound is the use of high frequency sound waves to create images from within the body, depicting internal structures. Since it uses sound waves is a safe diagnostic modality. It is used for pregnancy and vascular assessment, among others.
CT SCAN MULTISLICE
CT scanning is advanced radiological imaging that uses an x-ray beam that rotates around the patient to capture pictures inside the body. CT images are useful in studies of internal organs because they can separate overlapping structures precisely, producing very detailed images of all parts of the body including head, spine, abdomen, pelvis and chest.
OPEN MRI
MRI is one of the safest, most comfortable ways to obtain clear, detailed pictures of the inside of the human body without the use of x-rays, surgery or biopsy. MRI scans are painless for the patient and offer such accurate images that physicians can often obtain as much information from the MRI as if they were looking directly at the tissue.
DENTAL X-RAY (ORTHOPANTOMOGRAM)
An OPG is a panoramic or wide view x-ray of the lower face, which displays all the teeth of the upper and lower jaw on a single film. An OPG may be requested for the planning of orthodontic treatment, for assessment of wisdom teeth or for a general overview of the teeth and the bone which supports the teeth.
